Mina was predeceased by her husband Douglas of 64 years in 2012, her parents John and Emma Ammeter of Starbuck, and ten of her siblings including three brothers and seven sisters.
Mina was born in Karabulach, Georgia on May 21, 1925. She immigrated to Starbuck Manitoba with 73 of the Ammeter extended family. She came over the ocean by boat to Montreal and then by train to Winnipeg at the age of four years in July 1929. The Ammeters were dairy farmers. Mina completed her schooling in Starbuck and attended Normal school in 1942. Her first schools were at Treherne and High Bluff. She met Doug at a ball game in Starbuck before he enlisted in World War II. She waited for him to return from the war. They married in 1947 and raised five children on the Johnson farm in Sanford. Mina went back to teaching in Sanford in 1965 and worked as a Resource Teacher until her retirement in 1985. During that time Mina studied evening and weekend university courses towards her bachelor of education degree which she was proud to complete.
Mina had a very strong Christian faith her whole life. She belonged to Sanford United Church, the Ladies auxiliary to Legion 171 and worked on the Sanford history book committee to its completion. Doug and Mina were founding members of the Mandan Manor in Sanford.
Mina loved her plants in the house and also enjoyed shrubs trees and flowers around her farm home in Sanford. She was very loving to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed having her great granddaughter read to her.
