Mary passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday February 28, 2016 at the age of 86. In the fall of 2013, Mary became a resident of Deer Lodge Centre. Mary was born to Franz and Lena Rempel and grew up in the Glencross District and Winkler. She was baptized upon her confession of faith on June 13, 1946, in Rudnerweider Church and later transferred her membership to Gospel Mennonite Church in Winnipeg. On May 22, 1966 she was joined in matrimony to Walter Epp. Their Marriage lasted 23 years and 11 months. Throughout their marriage, they dealt with many health issues and they found strength to cope by relying on God to sustain them. Life had to go on and our faith helped us to see beyond the clouds. Walter had heart trouble and Mary was diagnosed with cancer in 1981. On April 15, 1990 her beloved Walter passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. God gave her the strength to go on. Family had always been very important to Mary. She had a special relationship with her siblings and their spouses and with her many nieces and nephews. Her nieces and nephews were very precious to her and she shared many special times with them. She loved them all very much and was loved in return. When times were lonely and long these verses gave her comfort; John 3:16, Psalm 23 and Psalm 121.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sister Anne and her husband Jacob, her brother John and his wife Sara, her brother Jake and his wife Helen and her sister-in-law Elfrieda.
She leaves to mourn her brother Edward (Martha) Rempel, brother Peter (Anne) Rempel, and many nieces and nephews and their families, four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in law from the Epp family, and many friends.
As a family, we would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for their wonderful care of our Aunt Mary.
