Leo "Papa" Marsh

With sadness in our hearts the family of Leo H. Marsh announce his sudden passing on March 14, 2013 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Born April 16, 1940 in Poulton, Le Fylde England, Leo and his family immigrated to St. Paul L’Hermite (Repentigny) Canada in February 1952. He married the love of his life, Sylvia McHarg on February 11, 1961 and was blessed with 52 years of marriage. Leo was truly a loving and devoted husband , father and family man.

Mourning his loss, wife Sylvia, daughter Debbie, son Michael (Catherine), son-in-law Galen Dixon, grandchildren Danine (Kyle) Munshaw, Daniel and Dylan Loisel, Jenna Marsh-Bright (Dallas Bright), Taylor and Megan Dixon, great-granddaughter Violet Bright, sister Mary Harrison (James Cruickshanks), brothers John (Shirley) and Ben (Claudette), sisters-in-law Gwen Marsh and Diana Jean McHarg and brother- in- law Daniel McHarg (Lori), numerous nieces and nephews.

He had many interests including, exploring Lake Superior with family and friends as Captain of the Vagabond and riding his Harley Davidson coast to coast in Canada and the USA. He cherished “Summer in the Peg” when all his family were together again! He was involved, owned and operated Teak Furniture Centre in Sault Ste-Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg for over 37 years. Leo was a very hard worker who never judged his friends or co-workers. A man with a strong character, Leo’s presence was always apparent. He will be greatly missed by wonderful friends, caring neighbours and business associates.

Leo was predeceased by his daughter Tracy Marsh-Dixon (2012), parents John and Annie Marsh, his brothers Joseph P. Marsh, Stanley Marsh and sister- in-law Bonnie Marsh.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and “A celebration of life” will be held at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Wednesday March 20, 2013 at 10:00 am.
