Jackie was born at the Royal Alexander Hospital in Edmonton Alberta, however she resided in St. Lina, Alberta along with her parents and 5 siblings. She spent her school years from Grade 1 through Grade 11 in St. Lina with her mother as the classroom teacher for all 11 years. She moved to Edmonton in 1957 where she completed her Grade 12 at St. Joes High School.
Jackie had 3 children from a previous marriage, then met Bernie Kelly and they all moved to Winnipeg in 1972 to start a new life. Jackie held several positions during her working days, such as K-tel, Alcan, Society of General Accountants, and her favorite of all, Grand & Toy because of all the wonderful people she met. Jackie retired in 2005 and took on the role of everyone’s BEST FRIEND, and the best way to describe her with a song would be “Thank you for Being a Friend.”
Jackie & Bernie moved from their Beaverbrook home into a condo on Paget and realized they now have a new extended family, and it took no time for Jackie to get to know everyone and become close friends with them. After Bernie passed in 2010, Jackie purchased a Park Model and became a snowbird in Casa Grande Arizona, again making long term friendships with everyone she met.
She was a ray of sunshine, and lit up a room with her presence. She was never afraid to be the life of the party. Jackie, along with her sister even had the opportunity to sing on the radio back in the days to entertain the public. In 2014, Jackie met Floyd Cameron (aka Cam) and they became instant friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cam for standing by Jackie’s side during this heartbreaking illness.
Jackie is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Allen (Roger), Laurel Stefura; son Randy Kelly (Cathy); and extended family Ken (Marlene) McCullough; her partner Floyd Cameron; grandchildren Amanda McCullough (Ben), Stephanie Rikkelman (Matt), Chris Stefura (Kirsten), Daniel Stefura (Sarah), Nicholas Kelly (Blaire), all of who she absolutely adored. Her sister Lenore Brouwer (Mel); brothers Robert Mageau (Sandy) and Raymond Mageau (Debbie); and several cousins, nieces/nephews, along with close friends.
Jackie was predeceased by her husband Bernie Kelly; her parents Lionel & Doris Mageau; brother Laurier Mageau; sister Denise Chapman (Jack); nephews Jeff Brouwer, Dean Chapman and her biggest heartbreak was the passing of her eldest grandson Ian McCullough.
