Predeceased by his mother, Caterina Mottola, father, Agostino, and his grandson, Callum Joseph, Giuseppe is survived by his devoted wife, Felicia, children: Gus (Candace), Greg (Jody), Cathy (David), Alfie (Colin) and nine grandchildren: Connor, Joseph, Cara, Spencer, Gabrielle, Shayla, Kendall, Isabelle, and Rowan. Giuseppe is also survived by his brothers, Francesco (Saverina) and Antonio (Danietta) and numerous nephews and nieces.
Giuseppe was born in Amato, Italy on April 10, 1945. In 1968, after serving two years in the Italian military, he immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba and married the love of his life. Together, they imagined and built a beautiful life. He spent over 25 years working at CN Rail, as a bricklayer in the maintenance department at Symington Yard. When not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends. During the summer months, he spent time with his family at their cabin in Gimli. Giuseppe was a kind, humble, hard-working man. Above all else, he loved his wife and family beyond measure, his quiet strength imparted a sense of security and love in each one of them. He was peaceful and gentle and the world is infinitely less without him in it.
Thank you to Dr. Adam, Dr. Cavers, the nursing staff and health care aides that staffed the 5th floor south at Victoria Hospital. Your caring and respectful treatment of Giuseppe provided us, his family, with an immense amount of solace and comfort during this trying time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Giuseppe’s name can be made to the Canadian Parkinsons Foundation. A private service was held.
Forever in My Heart
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.”
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived, while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely, the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we’re together again.
