Sadly, he was predeceased by his loving wife Eleanor of 48 years only 10 days earlier on January 30, 2020. May they be in peace and happy together once again...
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Pat Braun, Gail Rines (Brad), 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey Braun, Craig Braun , Terry Braun and 2 great grandchildren, Madeleine Braun and Sophie Braun.
Ernie is also survived by 8 siblings and their families: Lavera, Jean, Nora, James, Robert, Elma, Mildred, Shirley, and predeceased by 3 siblings, William, Donald and Elsie.
Ernie had a long career in Mechanical Drafting in Winnipeg before moving to Kenora, Ontario where he began a career in Airplane Mechanics, which he pursued in Kelowna, B.C., until retirement.
While living in Kelowna, there was nothing he liked better than going to the orchards and picking fresh fruit. Eleanor would then make preserves and the two of them would make wine...
Throughout his life, Ernie was an avid hunter, fisherman and handyman. He enjoyed his workshop, crafting beautiful cribbage boards, clocks, and furniture. He never hesitated to tackle any type of project and devised unique solutions to many problems.
In 2010 for health reasons Ernie and Eleanor moved back to Winnipeg.
Ernie suffered from Parkinsons and entered Luther Personal Care Home in 2015. His curious and active mind kept everyone on their toes wondering what predicament he would get into next....
Eleanor joined him in Luther Home in July 2019, and they shared a room until her passing.
Many thanks to all the staff at Luther Home for their outstanding care and compassion.
He will be missed by all.
As per Ernie's wishes there will not be a funeral.
We love you Dad.
