BETTIE ELAINE WIZBICKI (NÉE STEPHEN)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Bettie on October 12, 2023 at the age of 72 - beloved wife, sister, mother and friend. Bettie is survived by her husband of 51 years Dave; siblings Barbara and Bob (Lynn); children Ryan (Toni), Keri; and grand-dog Narya. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Jeanne.
Bettie will ever be lovingly remembered for her gentle, quiet spirit; her patient and forgiving heart; and her delicious baked goods. An unkind word never passed her lips, and she never complained, even through life’s challenges.
Many happy years were spent with family and friends at the lakefront cottage in Winnipeg Beach. She married her high school sweetheart and had a family, all while pursuing a career in the fields of insurance and financial planning. Her retirement was spent at the waterfront dream home the family built in Lee River, with winters spent as a snowbird in various locales, often near the ocean, which she adored; her favourite destination being Hawaii. She lived a full life, was a voracious reader, loved gardening, boating, camping and travel.
Bettie never wished to be the centre of attention, and as such, no funeral will be held; rather, a private family gathering will take place. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, contributions in Bettie’s honour can be made to Riverview 3 East Palliative Care, K9 Advocates Manitoba, or STARS.
Bettie’s loved ones would like to express their gratitude to those who cared for her in her final weeks, at the Grace Hospital and Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit.
“A smile for all, A heart of gold
One of the best this world could hold
Never selfish, always kind
What wonderful memories she left behind.”
