Barret enjoyed all sports. This included coaching both Cindy & Neil in football as well as Neil in hockey. He played football, baseball & hockey and enjoyed golfing at Larters with his parents. He even skydived once while visiting his sister & started kickboxing after his diagnosis. His favourite teams to watch were the 49ers, the Wpg Jets, the Maple Leafs and the Blue Bombers.
Barret spent 20 years in the auto industry in sales, finance and management. The last year was spent working with Embassy Graphics.
Barret's latest happy place was in Kenora at Kamp Krusty. He loved fishing, whether it was on the ice, in a boat or on the shore, as long as it was with family and friends.
Barret was active in NA & AA, off and on, for over 25 years. He would visit schools, detention centres and treatment centres using The Big Book and telling his own struggle with addiction to help others.
Barret maintained his sobriety and continued working his program even after his diagnosis.
