NEE DELAMATER
1924-2013
With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother peacefully on March 26th 2013 in Winnipeg.
Barbara was born in Two Harbors, Minnesota on Nov. 6th 1924. She moved to Winnipeg as a young child with her parents and grew up in River Heights. She attended Sir John Franklin, Queenston, Robert H. Smith, Kelvin High and Oxford House School For Girls where she was her class Valedictorian in her graduating year. She was also a member of the Pi Delta Phi sorority. While attending United College she met her soul mate Bill Snell and they married in 1951. She worked at the Bank of Montreal and Great-West Life and then left the work force to raise a family of four. She was active with Kinettes and served a term as President. She also was involved with the Canadian Club in Winnipeg. Many long term friendships developed with Barb and Bill’s involvement in Kinettes/Kinsmen and the Kinley Investment Group. Once the kids were older she went back to work at McLeod’s and Agriculture Canada at the University of Manitoba, and did part time work for U & R Tax Services.
Barbara was a strong lady who never complained and was always bubbly and alive. She was the tiny general on the many family camping trips used to field test tent trailers. She loved travel with Bill and before his passing in 1994 they visited Hawaii, Greece, England and Mexico. She spent several winters in Victoria after 1994 with a group of friends.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Bill, brother Leon Delamater and oldest daughter Leslie Snell. Barbara is survived by her sister Susan Flaxman (Jack) of Vineland Ontario, sons Jim (Irene)of Winnipeg, Don (Jackie) of Beaconia Mb. and daughter Barbara Barbour (Charles) of Winnipeg. Granddaughter Ashlee, Grandsons: Geoff (Shar), Anthony, Aaron (Nickie), Jacob (Nikou), Jonathan, Tyler(Lindsay), Nick, Daniel (Havilah), David and Charlie and her one Great-grandson William.

The Miracle of Friendship: There’s a miracle called friendship, That dwells within the heart, And you don’t know how it happens, Or how it get its start . . . But the happiness it brings you, Always gives a special lift, And you realize that friendship, Is Gods most precious gift.
This vibrant tiny lady will be forever remembered and sadly missed by family and friends alike.
