It is with deep sadness that Janet and Wayne announce the passing of Janet's beloved mother, Shirley who was 93 years of age, born May 4th, 1921 and passed away April 26th, 2015. Loving wife of the late Elliott Lewellyn (1975) for 35 years. Shirley is survived by her daughters Janet Shirley and her husband Wayne Parsons of Windsor and Elizabeth Karen Pidskalny of New Smyrna Beach, FL; grandchildren Monte Pidskalny (Tricia) of Harrow, Bryn Pidskalny and Jana Pidskalny (Jamen) of Edgewater, FL; great grandchildren Steven, Dylan and Kayla Pidskalny of Harrow. Dearest sister of Thomas William Murray of Fort Lauderdale, FL and sister-in-law Ruth MacDonald of London, ON. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her parents Thomas Gibson (1975) and Florence Emily Murray (nee Borrett) (1981) and sister Florence Ruth Murray (2004). Shirley was a lifelong member of Temple Baptist Church until its closing in 2003 and a current member of Banwell Community Church. She began her business career as the first paid church secretary of Temple Baptist Church in 1947 and in 1960 she accepted a position with the I.A.P.A. a former division of the present Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario, retiring in 1985 as the Division Liaison Officer serving the more than 450 companies of the Manufacturing Sector in the Essex and Kent divisions. In 1975, upon the passing of her husband, Shirley created South Walkerville Hairstyles and Accessories Limited becoming President and C.E.O. successfully operating it until she sold it in 1987. She was a member of the Zonta Club (Windsor Chapter 15) for 55 years and enjoyed volunteering at the Art Gallery of Windsor and the former Metropolitian Hospital. She also enjoyed travelling with friends and family, especially spending time in Tobermory, ON. where her family owned property from 1927 to 2013. Janet and Wayne wish to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to everyone for the many prayers, words of comfort, visits and acts of kindness extended to Shirley over the past 15 years during her journey of failing health. We would also like to thank the staff of Riverside Place, the former Malden Park continuing care facility and Oak Park Terrace for their kindness and dedicated care of Shirley over the years. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre. A graveside service will be held at Victoria Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm; Reverend Dr. Alex Moir officiating. In kindness, memorial tributes may be made to the Banwell Community Church Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice.
