Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Lillian and Bill Lineham, wife of Henry Baxter (d. 2008), mother of Peter and Bill, mother-in-law of Sandra and Christine, grandmother of Mark (Tannis), Sarah (Jason), and Leilan (Hamish), great-grandmother of Mason and Sienna, Brodie, Hunter and Kayden, and Max and Cece. She was fond cousin of Evelyn Bennett, of Essex, Ontario.
Mom met Dad while they attended Walkerville Collegiate. Finding that they were the loves of their lives, they married in 1944 in Riverside, where they lived and raised their children. Mom worked hard to be the kind of wife and mother that now seem to belong to a bygone age: she managed a family home where a husband, two sons, and a dog felt safe, secure, valued, and together. She threw herself into activities that she could share with Dad and their wide circle of friends (golfing, bowling, curling), or that gave her some quiet time for herself (painting, pottery). Mom always seized the ups of life with joy and infectious laughter. She faced the downs of life with a glass of wine and confidence that things would work out.
Through her last years, Mom lived with her son Bill and daughter-in-law Christine, whose love meant she was never lonely or at a loss in a changing world. She travelled to Florida with them as winter set in each year, and to Alberta to visit her western grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by all who knew her.
Cremation will be followed by a private interment.
