Charles Burns McIntosh (March 2, 1929 - April 18, 2020) was a remarkable human being. He is mourned by Anne, his loving wife of sixty-five years; his three daughters: Susan Larsh, Kathleen Quinn, and Beth Zaitz, whose husbands, David (deceased) and Jim were sons to him; his grandchildren: Allison Van Beek (Court), Jeff Larsh (Amanda), Sean Quinn (Natasha), and Sarah Beaudoin (Matthew); his great grandchildren Cecilia Larsh and Jack Quinn; and his many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Windsor, he graduated from Assumption College in 1950. Not for him an ordinary career; he founded McIntosh Paving Company Limited while he and Anne were pregnant with their first child. He was a driven and successful business man, who placed a high priority on earning the respect of his colleagues and family but was not above loading all the kids of Dormar Drive into the back of his pickup for a thrilling jaunt around the block. After a well-earned early retirement, Chuck mellowed considerably and used his new-found leisure time to enjoy this second phase of his life. Family was everything. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And finally had time to polish his golf game with his long-time friends, augment his sailing flags, and putter in his workshop. We will miss his colourful stories and his quick wit.
Our family is profoundly grateful for the thoughtful care of Dr. Pat Smith and the dedicated staff at Windsor Hospice, particularly Linda Britton.
In memory of our husband, Dad, and Papa, performing acts of kindness in these uncertain times or donations to Windsor Hospice would be appreciated. And, join with us in raising a glass of CC and water (or Drambuie) to a one-of-a-kind man.
