Elcombe, Averil (Holton): It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we sadly announce the death of Averil Ann Elcombe (Holton) of Windsor (January 18, 1947 – February 5, 2013). Averil will forever be missed by her best friend and loving husband, Jon, as well as daughters Kristin (Tim) Mosser, Muffy (Mike) Sleiman, Alexis, and Greer of Windsor. Amazing ‘Mumya’ to Charlie and Emily Mosser and ‘Grammy’ to Mason and Audrey Sleiman. Sister of Mike (Donna) Holton of Orlando, and Philip (Isobel) Holton of Vancouver, and a favourite aunt to many nieces and nephews. Averil was predeceased by her parents Philip and Mary Holton of Windsor. Following a career committed to her passions of teaching, children, and the arts, Averil retired as Principal within the Greater Essex County District School Board. As a published author, dedicated educator, artist, and the world’s best wife, mum, sister and grandmother, Averil did it all. Favourite memories include summer days on Bruce Beach, family celebrations, and trips across the world with Jon. Memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Windsor or Transition to Betterness.
