Woodfin “Tip” Clair Wall, age 91, of Winder, GA, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013. During his life, he was the owner and operator of Tip Wall Trucking and a farmer. Tip served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. He attended church at New Pentecost United Methodist Church, Winder, which he helped to build. He also assisted in building the gymnasium for Holsenbeck Elementary School. Tip served six years as the Barrow County Commissioner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Arthur and Ola Patrick Wall. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois Wall. They celebrated their anniversary on January 18, 2013. Tip is also survived by two sons, Phillip (Jackie) Wall of Winder and Tony (Denise) Wall of Watkinsville, GA; two daughters, Melissa (Ashley) Saunders of Athens, GA and Melinda (Kendall) Williams of Winder; a sister, Helen Davis of Lawrenceville, GA; 12 grandchildren, Chip Saunders, Stuart Saunders, Nick Saunders, Joanna Rennie, Scott Wall, Nicole Wall, Russell Wall, Erin Skinner, Patrick Wall, Wesley Cooper, Casey Cooper, and Lindsey Williams; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Smith Funeral Home, Winder. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at New Pentecost U.M.C. with Reverends John Norman and Mike McLemore officiating. The burial will follow the service at New Pentecost U.M.C. Cemetery. Flowers are accepted, but donations to New Pentecost U.M.C. in care of Pat Mays 832 Whispering Pine Rd. Winder, GA 30680 are preferred. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
