Robert Redmon Hay

HAY, ROBERT (BOB) REDMON, SR, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the age of 86. He was born November 27, 1936, in Miami, Florida to Vera and Theodore Hay. He grew up in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami and lived in the South Florida area until 2006 before moving to Monroe, Georgia. After graduating from Miami Jackson Senior High School, Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957 with active-duty service at U.S. Naval Air Stations located at Barber’s Point, Hawaii and Jacksonville Florida. Robert started his career at Eastern Airlines in the early 1960s in Miami as an aircraft mechanic, then worked for several Pest Control companies in the 1980s and 1990s before retiring to Georgia.

He was predeceased by his mother, Vera Hay-Fritchey and stepfather Carl Fritchey and is survived by his beloved son Robert R. Hay, Jr; daughters: Sandra A. Hay-Franz and husband Christopher, Patricia A. Menendez and husband Albert, Kristin M. Cardenal and husband Marcelo; grandchildren: Jessica, Robert III, Danielle, Ashleigh, Christopher, Matthew, Olivia, Kristian, Nicolas; great-grandchildren: Noah, Emma, Molly, Oliver, Daphne, Brayden, Amir, and Braxton. Robert loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Palmetto Muzzle Loaders Club and a Florida Fish and Wildlife Hunter Safety instructor. During his retirement years he traveled across the United States selling his unique glass storage container designs at various craft shows, visited his ancestral roots in Scotland, also his former Naval station in Hawaii and always welcomed visitors to his cabin. He also became an active member (and good friend to many) of the St. Albans Episcopal church in Monroe, Georgia providing countless volunteer hours there and at Faith in Serving Humanity (FISH) ministry. Everyone enjoyed Robert’s smile, humor and old saying “Come back again when you can stay longer!”. You will be missed Bob! Serva jugum (Keep the Yoke)!
