James Patrick Murphy

James Patrick Murphy, age 81, of Winder, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. James was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late James E. and Shirley Peck Murphy, James was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winder. He earned a degree as a Mechanical Engineer and was the owner of Murphy Mechanical Services for over 40 years. He was a talented woodworker and handyman. He enjoyed fishing and playing with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Murphy. He is survived by his wife Susan Mary Ratte Murphy; his son Sean Murphy; and grandchildren: Timothy Murphy and Patrick Murphy. He is also survived by his sisters: Michele Snyder, Mary Jo Davies, and Sherri Miske; and in-laws: Judith Ratte, Cynthia and Richard Sand, Barbara and Clint Small, Steve and Laura Ratte, and Phil and Mary Pat Ratte.

There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 25 Wilkins Rd SW #3878, Winder, Georgia on Monday, September 16 at 4:00 pm. A reception will follow at the church. Donations may be made in memory of James Patrick Murphy to ShrinersChildrens.org.
