Derrell Thompson, age 80, of Bethlehem, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024. Derrell completed a career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service and retired with 30 years of service to be a caregiver for his mother after the death of his father in 1993. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He was an avid deer hunter, fan of NASCAR racing, and loved college football, especially the Georgia Bulldogs.
Derrell is predeceased by his parents Watson and Mary Willie Thompson. He is survived by his brother Randy (Donna) Thompson; nephews Lance (Tara) Thompson and Kyle (Jessica) Thompson; great-nephews: Aiden Thompson, Easton Thompson, and Miles Thompson; and great-niece Anna Leigh Thompson.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Winder, Georgia on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The Funeral will be in the Chapel at 3:00 PM followed by burial at Barrow Memorial Gardens.
