Mr. Charles Finch

Mr. Charles Finch, of Jefferson, died January 1, 2013 at the age of 80. Mr. Finch proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as a Radar Man. He later became employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad Company and after 34 years of faithful service retired as a Yard Master. Mr. Finch was a member of Union Baptist Church in Winder, enjoyed gardening various types of produce, but he is best remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who faithfully attended his grandchildren’s various activities. Born to the late Thomas A. and Lena Jacks Finch, he was preceded in death by sister, Sue Hunter. Mr. Finch is survived by his daughter, Susie Roberts, of Jefferson; son Ronald Finch, of Danielsville; grandchildren, Alex Simmons and Haley Roberts; brother, Bill Finch, of Jefferson; sister, Linda Bass, of Smithville, TN; former wife and caregiver, Billie Ann Finch, of Statham. Funeral Services for Mr. Finch will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00am in the Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Powers officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 6:00-9:00pm at Smith Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted.
