Benjamin Dunn "Bennie" Smith

Benjamin Dunn "Bennie" Smith, age 85, of Winder, passed away on January 30, 2024. Bennie was a lifelong resident of Barrow County. He was a 1956 graduate of Winder Barrow High School. He had a career as a salesman for Union Special Corporation and served in the National Guard. Bennie attended Midway Christian Church. After retiring from Union Special, Bennie enjoyed raising cattle and hay on his farm in Barrow County.

Bennie was predeceased by his parents, Luellyn and Willis Herman Smith, Sr. He was also predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Marcia Wiley Smith; daughter Tamara McKay; and sister Joan Smith Hammond. Bennie is survived by his daughters: Christi (Ray) Callihan of Mansfield, TX and Amy Smith of Winder; son-in-law, Donnie McKay of Acworth, brother, Herman (Carla) Smith of Bogart; sister, Cynthia (Donnie) Miller of Winder; grandchildren: Tyler Callihan, Dr. Dylan McKay, Anna Callihan, Emily (Joey) Fitzpatrick, Caleb (Hannah) Miles and Nolan Miles; great grandchildren: Bexley, Remi, and Ava; brothers-in-law, John Hammond and Bobby (Maria) Wiley; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4:00 PM in Smith Memory Chapel. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bennie Smith be made to Smith Cemetery Fund, c/o Cynthia Miller, 974 Hog Mountain Road, Winder, GA 30680.
