Ruby Kate Pierce

October 17, 1927 – January 7, 2017

Ruby Kate Pierce, 89, of Wilson passed away Saturday. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017, in Maplewood Cemetery, 400 College St., Wilson, NC. The Rev. Johnny Hendricks will officiate.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash St. N, Wilson, NC 27896.

Surviving are two daughters, Deanna Ingram of Wilson and Ethel Hendricks and husband, Billy, of Stantonsburg; three sons, Charles Pierce of Lexington, Doug Pierce and wife, Gail, of Wilson and George Pierce and wife, Betty, of Durham; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, John Broadway.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Calvin Pierce Sr.; a daughter, Debbie Broadway; mother, Viola Carr Weeks; father, Charlie Carr; step-father, Jim Weeks; brothers, Bill Carr, Joe Carr, Arthur Carr and Charles Carr; sisters, Grace Aman and Ethel Carr; and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Pierce.

The Pierce family would like to thank the staff of Avante at Wilson for their loving care and assistance to Ruby during the past several years.
