Curt is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mamie Ellis; sister, Betty Jane King (Leland King); and partner of many years, Linda Rutledge.
He is leaving behind his daughter, Barbara Jane Ellis Simmons (Wayne Kerns), Grandsons, Westen C Simmons (Christy) and Wayne E. Simmons; great-granddaughter, Sophie Simmons; mother of his daughter, Evelyn Ellis; niece, Shelia Heward (Art); nephew, Henry Bass (Julie); other nieces, nephews and cousins, close family friend Ann Smith; and many friends throughout Tennessee and the USA.
Curt was retired from the Air Force, as a postman, and business owner. Between Buckroe amusement park, and Uncle Sam’s, it was all about the kids and hotdogs. Curt was an avid sports fan and loved minor league baseball from the Peninsula Pilots in VA to the Tennessee Smokies baseball. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a NASCAR fan. Curt’s life was straight out of his favorite western books, full of travel, romance, adventure, comedy, drama, and even a horse, but no shoot outs. He was a magician with a quarter and loved Pick A Card. Curt was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He never knew a stranger.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 28, 2022 from 2:00-4:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home Jefferson City, TN. A 2:00pm graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson, NC.
