Ruby Fay Smith Mee

Fay was born March 14, 1935 in Alligator, NC to the late Dewey and Mary Smith. The family moved to Wilmington and Fay was a graduate of New Hanover High School, Class of 1953. She worked as a telephone operator, a job she shared many stories from. She soon married her high school sweetheart, Dewayne Williamson. With Dewayne in the Navy they lived in many places. Their first two children, Warren and Sharon, were born in Africa and spent their younger years in Spain. Their third child, Sheila, was born in Pensacola FL.

After Dewayne’s passing, she met and married JW Mee. They had two children, Kimberly Fay and Maryja.

Fay was also the proud grandmother to Sawyer Wolf, Sheila’s son.

Fay was an avid student of the Bible and spent many hours studying. She also loved all the pretty things resulting in grand collections of dolls, flowers and jewelry. She even loved to make much of her own jewelry.

Besides her parents and first husband, she is preceded in death by her son Warren Mee, her sister Judy Lane, her husband JW Mee, her grandson Sawyer Wolf and her daughter and son in law Sharon and Ed Stankiewitz.

She is survived by her daughters Sheila Wolf, Kimberly Fay Mee and Maryja Mee. Also surviving are her sister Jane Walsh and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
