Robert was my friend for 31 years.  I would say he was my best friend.  I have seen so many people comment that he was a good soul.  He was, that’s a good way to put it.  He had the best moral compass I have ever seen in a person.   My best memories with Robert were out on the water.  We owned two boats together and he especially loved going out the inlet to the ocean.  He always wanted to stay until the sun was about to set, the golden hour he called it.  We would make a toast to life and head back in.   He loved life, he loved where he lived, he loved his family and his friends.   He was proud of his business and worried about his employees.  We would ride up to Burgaw and he would show me where his dad worked and he would never fail to stop by the family gravesite to talk to those already past.  I can’t believe someone so funny, happy, and full of life and goodness is gone.  But all we can hope for is to have lived a good life, have a positive impact on others, and leave a legacy.  Robert achieved all those things.  I am proud that he was my friend.

My dear friend Robert! I found out today of your passing. I'm glad you are not suffering anymore, but I'm going to miss your enthusiastic smile and heart warming hugs! I'm sorry I missed your funeral to say, see you later my friend!

I even thought you pulled in to see Dr. Gina this morning. 

This is just a terrible loss of one of the best people and souls ever!

Robert and I grew up in Burgaw, which was akin to Mayberry. Robert was a fun loving person who always wore a smile. He did many wonderful things for many people. The greatest thing he did for himself was marry Linda, and the greatest thing he did for me was introduce me to my future wife Pam. For this, I will be eternally grateful

Never one to miss a good dental meeting, Robert came out to learn and share when Jensen held a small course in Raleigh-Durham taught by his good friend, Terry McQuiston. He made friends with Richard Vosburgh (shown here) and they wound up helping each other out periodically when equipment failed. Robert was an amazing colleague.  Always smiling!!!

I met Robert when I went to work for Jensen Dental in 2008. At a certain point, I was his rep and couldn’t have been happier to have a client like Robert.  He was always so kind and always made me smile and laugh. 
Over the years of talking to Robert, it was clear how much he loved, adored and respected his wife, Linda and how much he loved and missed his twin sister, Nancy.  He had such a joy for life. I left Jensen to bake cheese straws. Robert was quick to be a cheerleader so this is him, showing me that he loved them.  
God bless that sweet man’s soul and may He comfort all those who love him.

So kind and thoughtful... for the last 28 years as we vacationed with our family across the street  from the Lewis' we gained additions--Robert and Linda. Robert was a friend to us and our family......he will be greatly missed. Our girls grew up experiencing the interest, concern and fun times Robert had with us. We all have great Robert stories. Growing up with Robert was so much fun, playing music and hanging out with his family in Burgaw. That part of our lives just seems like a dream, but we reconnected through dentistry in our working years. Please accept my condolences to the family.

My wife Lori and I met Robert when we worked at Carrol Dental Lab together in Kinston, NC. We became fast friends since we moved there from Pittsburgh and if I had a dollar for every time Robert would say “it’s not like this in Wilmington”, I’d be a rich man! We still wish to this day, we would have moved to Wilmington because most likely, we would still be there!  We still remember the nice time we had at dinner ten years ago  with Robert, Linda and our daughter Amanda. Robert was a great friend and an exceptional person and we are glad  that we had the opportunity to have him in our lives! Our deepest sympathy to you Linda for your loss. Robert will be greatly missed by many.

We were neighbors for many years. We enjoyed  living beside the Lewis Family.   To Linda,  Sambo and Cynthia and all of the family, we are sorry for your loss.   We have so many great memories of the  entire neighborhood.  Our love and prayers are with all of you.

I met Robert about 12 years ago through  work.  His personality was a breath of fresh air.  Always smiling, laughing, funny.  He called to tell me that he was closing shop  and the reason why.  My heart sank.  We talked on occasion after that.  He fought a good fight.  Now he is in pain no more and smiling and laughing again.  My condolences to Linda and other family members.

Knew Robert since high school. He was a kind, gentle soul. I never remember him ever getting mad or angry in school. He will be missed by many who dearly loved him..He is in Heaven now with his twin, Nancy,  whom he dearly loved and is celebrating finally seeing each other again...God bless his family and my prayers are with yall.

Robert was a fine man.  He always had a smile on his face and was a friendly man to his friends!  Heaven has gained another angel. May God bless Linda, Sam, and your family!
