Patricia G. Wilson died peacefully in her sleep on February 6, 2024, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare hospice facility in Wilmington – two days following her 92nd birthday.
A native of Greenville, SC, she is preceded in death by her husband, Worth Wilson. Pat and Worth relocated from River Landing in Wallace to Cambridge Village in Wilmington. Following Worth’s passing in 2022, she moved to Brightmore of Wilmington.
While at Limestone College, Pat met Worth on a blind date and her life was changed forever. They were married in March 1952 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2022. Warm and caring, with a great sense of humor, Pat considered her marriage and the home she provided for family and friends as her greatest source of pride. Pat was an avid golfer and loved her golf buddies dearly. Pat was also a key member of the Women’s Circle at Wallace Presbyterian Church, where she was instrumental in growing the Food Pantry into a pillar of the community, supporting families throughout Wallace.
She is also preceded by her parents, Jim and Margaret Garner, and son-in-law Mike Greenwood.
Pat is survived by her son, Worth B. Wilson, Jr. (Leigh) of Raleigh; daughter Lynn Greenwood of Wilmington; grandchildren Sarah Wilson (Maggie Chmiel) of Phoenix; Stephen Greenwood of Los Angeles, Michelle Disney (Dan Suchy) and Heather Disney of Raleigh; and a great-granddaughter, Waverly Wilson of Phoenix.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC, 28401 or Wallace Presbyterian Church.
