Mary Elizabeth Pollard

She was born in Winnsboro, SC on January 5, 1919, the daughter of the late Thomas Clyde O’Donnell, Sr. and Sarah Pope O’Donnell. Mrs. Pollard was a long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church. Her strong faith was reflected in her sweet and gentle spirit. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-four years, John Manly Pollard, Sr.; by two sisters, Sarah Rice and Frances Torbett, and two brothers, J. Colvin O’Donnell and Thomas Clyde O’Donnell.

Surviving is her loving family: three sons, Fred D. Pollard and wife, Charlotte, of Taylors, S.C., John Manly Pollard Jr. and wife, Caroline and Thomas C. Pollard and wife, Brooke Lamson, all of Wilmington, NC.; a sister, Patricia Earle and husband, William, of Greenville, SC; seven grandchildren, Nancy McGinnis (Mike), Nathan Pollard, John M. Pollard III (Stephanie), Amy Pollard, Amanda Richardson (David), Elizabeth Pollard and Alice Pollard; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Caleb, David, and Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2012, at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 5-7 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
