Jerry was a New Hanover High School graduate; he worked for Babcock and Wilcox, the NCDOT and did commercial diving. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and retired from General Electric in 2005.In addition to spending time with his family, Jerry enjoyed fishing, camping, walking on the beach and boating trips with his best friend, Linwood. His memories will live on in all who knew him and loved him.
Jerry was born on August 25, 1943 to the late Bud and Nora Fowler, including his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Houston Fowler.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Robbins Fowler; two sons, Ray (Stacey) Fowler of Leland, NC and Jamie (Valarie) Fowler of Wilmington, NC; two daughters, Angel Hardee of Oak Island, NC and Wendy Fowler of Leland, NC; their mother, Bonnie Fowler of Leland, NC; four grandchildren, Todd Hardee, Hannah Fowler, Abigail Pegram and Jaxon Fowler. He is also survived by one brother, Buddy (Lolita) Fowler of Wilmington; two sisters, Jane “Mickey” Richards of Fort Myers, FL and Francis(Lloyd) Rud of Wilmington, NC; two step-children, Christy(Jonathan) Owsley and Dereck (Christal) Peterson; five step grandchildren, Kobe Owsley, Madison Raynor, Trenton Owsley, Chandler Raynor and Will Peterson; and lifelong friends, Linwood Rogers and Donna Brinker.
A gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday August 3, 2013 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Dr.,Wilmington, NC 28403.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice. “Tis Grace hath brought me safe thus far, and Grace will lead me home.” Amen.
