She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 17, 1931 to parents Samuel and Gertrude Silberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Gertrude Silberg, her brother Julius Silberg and sister-in-law Lillian Silberg.
Though her accomplishments were many, one of her most distinguished was being the founder of the Special Education Department of the New Hanover County Department of Education. She was also the Past President of the B’nai Israel Chapter of the Hadassah Women’s Zionist Organization of America.
She is survived by her husband Arnold Sobol, O.D., daughter Ellen Sobol Stein (Alvin, M.D.), sons Warren M. Sobol M.D. (Marlene), Todd L. Sobol, M.D. (Jody).
Her grandchildren Barbara Stein, Jason Stein, Ph.D (Jen), Garret Sobol, M.D. (Ali), Ethan Sobol M.D., Emily Polster (Noam), Keenan Sobol, M.D., Jacob Sobol, Lauren Koenig (Adam), Adam Sobol (Zoe), Carly Sobol, M.D. (Avi)
Her Great Grandchildren Jonathan Sobol, Hunter Sobol, Gavi Polster, Orly Polster, Leah Koenig, Becca Koenig.
A Graveside Service will be held at the B’nai Israel Congregation Cemetery located at 307 N. 18th St, Wilmington, NC. The time of the service will at 10:00am. The service will be officiated by Rabbi Moshe Lieblich of Chabad Lubavitch.
Pallbearers will be: Garrett Sobol, M.D., Ethan Sobol, M.D., Keenan Sobol, M.D., Jacob Sobol, Adam Sobol, Jason Stein, Ph.D., Adam Koenig.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be sent to the Chabad of Wilmington.
