Edna "Hassie" Ray

Mrs. Ray was born in Gilmer County, West Virginia on August 1, 1923, the daughter of the late Alta and Alva Groves.

Prior to her illness, Mrs. Ray was a very vital member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, participating and chairing many local and regional committees and organizations. She was dedicated to serving her family, church and community.

Surviving are her two daughters, Pamela Walker of Wilmington and Terry Hill of Rocky Point; one son in law, Walter “Rick” Hill; one sister, Lillian Anderson of Fairmont, WV; Three loving grandsons; Trey Walker with wife, Mary Ellen, Richard Hill with Tina Coleman and Ryan Hill; two great grand daughters, Mikayla and Rachel.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Tuesday November 1, 2011at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Hockett officiating.

Entombment will follow at Oleander Memorial Garden, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409.

The family will receive friends at the Coble Ward – Smith Funeral Home, Oleander Chapel on Monday October 31, 2011 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Memorials may be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 So. College Road Wilmington, NC 28403.
