The Middle Sound Community lost one of their native sons, David George Register, Sr., 75, who set sail home on November 2, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Rose Watkins-Register.
He is survived by a son, David G. Register, Jr. (Connie), 2 daughters, Cheryl R. Wilson, William, and Sarah Elizabeth Rivenbark and husband, Matthew; 3 brothers, Johnnie (Sara), David Ray Young, and Randall Smith (Diane), 4 sisters, Carolyn West, Linda McCellan (Noel), Pat Rogers, and Sandra Register (Joe) and by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren He is also survived by his loving and loyal companions, Buster and Maggie Mae. He was dearly loved by his children and grandchildren telling stores stories and encouraging them to always stand tall. He never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh.
Mr. Register was co-owner of Register’s Boat Shop in Wrightsville Beach for 10 years and then retired after 30 years with Cape Fear Towing as an Engineer. He was president of the Sencland CB Club and was also in the civil defense. He was an avid fisherman and he loved to get in the car and ride and travel to places unknown.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Coble Ward-Smith, Wlmington. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 1:00 at Prospect Cemetery with Rev. Randall Smith officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his nurse and CNA, Tiffany Rock and Victoria Brown with Wellcare for all the love and attention to have provided during his illness.
