Clara May Marshburn Welker

Clara May Marshburn Welker, 87, of Castle Hayne, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born December 7, 1925 to the late Lamuel Hugh Marshburn and Sudie Bessie Starling.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husbands; Dwight V. Jacobs Sr., and Carl W. Welker, son; Dwight V. “Sonny” Jacobs Jr., brother; Hugh Marshburn, and sisters; Virginia Bordeaux, and Gertrude Welker.

Clara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her daughter; Rev. Lottie Ray Labelle and husband Patrick, sons; A. Harold Jacobs and wife Rhonda, and George S. Jacobs and wife Shelly, brother; Edwin Ray Marshburn, grandchildren; Leanne Montgomery, Doug Jacobs, Dan Jacobs, Melissa Hufham, Rachael Hoppough, Ann Marie Faircloth, Michelle Lee Faircloth, Tim Labelle, Michael Labelle, Terry Jacobs, Jordan Jacobs, and Nickolas Jacobs, great-grandchildren, Devin Belcher, Laurin Belcher, Forrest Hufham, Miranda Faircloth, Hannah Faircloth, Chuck Faircloth, Melanie Faircloth, Maria Hoppough, Honza Robinson, Hayden Jacobs, Sonny Jacobs, Romer Jacobs, and Sophia Jacobs.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Coble Ward-Smith Oleander Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11am at McClure Memorial Presbyterian Church, with the Reverends Lottie Labelle and Eddie McClure officiating. Pallbearers will be Devin Belcher, Manuel Marino, Paco Marino, Doug Jacobs, Nickolas Jacobs, and Dan Jacobs.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, NC.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McClure Memorial Presbyterian Church at 5908 Castle Hayne Rd, Castle Hayne, NC 28429.
