Catherine Holman Turner Henriksen, 94, of Hickory, N.C., died March 19, 2010, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born on May 7, 1915, the daughter of the late Martha Darley Riley and Frederick Jennings Turner, of Denmark, S.C. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene "Doc" Henriksen, of Wilmington; and two brothers, the infant Frederick Riley Turner, and George Wilson Turner, of Wilmington.
Surviving are a brother, William Lewis Turner, of The Oaks, Orangeburg, S.C.; sons Harold Eugene Henriksen, Newport News, Va., and Frederick Michael Henriksen, Tryon, N.C.; and a daughter, Phalbe Henriksen, Hickory. Also surviving are two daughters-in-law, Mary Sue Freeze Henriksen, Newport News, and Libby Tucker Henriksen of Tryon; three grandchildren, Gene's daughters, Melissa Sue Henriksen, Boulder Creek, Cal., and Mina Darley Henriksen Lloyd, Raleigh, and Rick's son, Harold (Hal) Tucker Henriksen,
Beaufort N.C.; a grandson-in-law, Alun Lloyd, a granddaughter-in-law, Bonnie Beaumont Henriksen; and a great grandson, Nathan Rhys Lloyd.
Catherine was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church from 1948 until her death. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a bachelor's degree in design, and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She
was also formerly a member of the DAR. She was the secretary of Henriksen's Pharmacy, Inc., for many years.
Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M., on March 27, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, in Wilmington, with the Revs. David Wade and Margaret Hockett officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family.
