He was predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers, Howard David, Clyde, Leonard, Lawrence and Junior, 4 sisters Glenna Mae Williams, Dorothy Williams, Gladys McIntosh and Mary Lou Shelton and his first wife Helen.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife Katherine Ward Long Williams; 2 sons, Jerry Williams (Anna), Timmy Long (Terri); 2 daughters, Karen Giles (Wes) and Ruth Ann Thompson; nine (9) Grandchildren; fifteen (15) great grandchildren and one (1) great great grandchild; his 4 brothers, Bill Williams (Betty) of Missouri, Jack Williams (Karen) of South Carolina, Tom Williams of Leland, NC and Glenn Williams (Phyllis) of Wilmington and one (1) sister, Betty Chavis of Red Springs, NC; several nieces and nephews and large host of friends who loved him very much.
“Uncle Bob” was an avid race car fan, especially Richard Petty. At one time he had his own race car and raced the local dirt tracks. He touched a lot of lives and always had a testimony for Jesus.
The family would like to thank his dear friends, Dr. & Mrs. Neil Musselwhite and the staff of New Hanover Medical Group of Myrtle Grove.
Pall bearers will be, L.T. Hines, Butch Barnhard, Mike Richter, Rodney Rogers, Sandy Wilson, James Fowler and alt: David Bridgers.
Family will receive friends anytime at the home of Glenn Williams and on Friday from 7-9pm at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington.
Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Saturday at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service followed by a Graveside service on Saturday at 11am at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr., Wilmington.
