Betty A. Hewett

Betty was born April 30, 1947 in Wilmington, NC to Eden Eugene Wells and Helen Lucille Wells on April 30, 1947. She was raised by her grandmother Ida Bertha Wells for whom Betty was most grateful for giving her a spiritual education and foundation of faith.

Betty was reborn by accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in 1957 and had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Gibson Avenue Baptist Church. Her deep faith and devotion sustained her through many joys and trials. She dearly loved her family, friends, church and dog Bailey. Her true pride and joy in life was her grandchildren.She would always get a big "Grandma Smile" on her face whenever she spoke about them.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister: Patricia Jean Scott and her brother: Tommy Ray Wells.

Betty is survived by her children: Paul Curtis Williams and his wife, Brigida, Roy Allen Williams, Douglas Wayne Williams and his wife, Starr, Daniel Blakely Hewett, David John Williams and his wife, Ruby, and Susan Ann Williams. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 8 nephews.

A visitation for Betty will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC.
