It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard G. Silverman, who died peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the age of 72. A man of great character, Richard was deeply devoted to his family, his friends, and his Jewish faith. He lived a life of warmth, generosity, and kindness, always placing the needs of others before his own.
Richard found great joy in the traditions that shaped his upbringing, and he was a constant source of strength and love for those around him. Whether spending time with his family or enjoying the company of friends, Richard’s presence brightened every room he entered. His compassion, wisdom, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ida Silverman. Richard is survived by his beloved sister Deborah (John) Terchin, his cherished nieces Lindsay (Doug) Stuckey, Stacey (Alex) Dimond, and nephews Brian (Sami) Terchin, Michael (Carlie) Terchin, and Danny (Meg) Terchin. He is also mourned by his dear cousins Judy (Tom) Serafin and Wayne (Kris) Citron, along with many other loving Silverman and Rosen cousins, and his girlfriend of many years, Sylvia Wald, who all held a special place in his heart.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 15, 2024, 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Rd, Skokie, IL 60076.
In honor of Richard’s memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society, reflecting the values of kindness and generosity that Richard embodied throughout his life.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
