Marta grew up in Williamsville and graduated with honors from Williamsville East HS and the University of Dayton (OH), where she earned a B.A. degree in English. She was retired at the time of her death after a distinguished career as a Revenue Officer and Field Group Manager with Internal Revenue Service in Chicago, Rochester, and Buffalo. Throughout her life, Marta was an avid reader, writer, musician, and artist. A ten-year member of the Buffalo Niagara Concert Band, she served as Flute Section Leader and poster/program creator while also playing with smaller community ensembles. She enjoyed photography, graphic design, travel, sports, movies, Nature in all its wonders, and animals in all their sweetness and nobility. She hoped she was a kind and supportive daughter, sister, and friend. Marta is predeceased by her father, Dr. Joseph K. Riordan, and is survived by her mother Jane D. Riordan, brother Kenneth B. (Patricia) Riordan, niece Dr. Monica J. (Kyle) Frydach, nephew Kenneth M. (Sarah) Riordan, and several grandnieces and nephews.
