Bruce Ray Bell, aged 77, died painlessly and peacefully on August 9, 2024 from a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, partner and best friend of 52 years, Marilyn Jean Barber, and his precious and favorite dog Oscar. Bruce is survived by his sister Nancy (Douglas) Land, his dog and loyal companion Hunter, sisters-in-law, numerous cherished nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless loyal and devoted friends- all who were dearly loved and appreciated. Bruce began his 50 year professional classical singing career as a Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition Finalist, taught voice at Niagara University, was an accomplished pianist and accompanist, but his favorite performances were the countless programs and productions he sang in with his wife Marilyn. He was a connoisseur of wines and spirits and developed numerous cherished friendships and relationships as a consultant over many years. A life-long student of Italian; he used this talent on their numerous trips to Venice. Traveling was a passion- whether to Italy, the British Isles, Egypt, Marilyn’s family cottage on Keuka Lake, to procure a specimen of Japanese Maple for their extensive English Garden, and most recently visiting family and friends across the country. Bruce’s place of final rest is in the Little Church Cemetery, in Stanley, NY, alongside his beloved Marilyn, with a private graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or ASPCA. Arrangements by Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home.
