Grady H. Davenport Jr

Grady was a graduate of Jamesville High School and a member of the Jamesville Baptist Church. He enjoyed the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Grady attended NC State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics.

In January of 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Williams, also of Jamesville. They lived in Raleigh until returning to Jamesville in 1976 when Grady started employment at Weyerhaeuser in Plymouth as an engineer. He continued to work there until 1999, when he became a contract engineer.

Grady is survived by his wife and his three daughters: Jill Davenport of Charlotte, Kara Bowen of Jamesville, and Megan Self of Raleigh. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Addison Bowen and Tyler Self, as well as two expected grandchildren. Also surviving is Grady’s brother, Irvin Davenport of Jamesville.

The funeral service was held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00pm at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston, followed by burial at the Jamesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jamesville Fire and Rescue, PO Box 17, Jamesville, NC 27846.
