Karl Alexander Nielson

Karl and Amber met through mutual friends and were married on September 22, 2006 at the Brookshire Inn of Williamston, MI.

He is the father to Ava Nielson (8), Aubrey Nielson (8) and Kaleb Nielson (7), three of the sweetest kids you'll ever meet.

Karl was born on 7/19/1981 and is survived by his mother Eleanor Eagly but was sadly preceded in death by the loss of his father David Nielson.

Karl has 3 siblings that cared for him very much, Aleric (Cheryl) Nielson, Chandra Nielson, and his twin brother Kirk (Abby) Nielson, who will all hold him very close to their hearts for as long as they live.

Karl attended Central Michigan University and schooled in Engineering and Technology. He was a hardworking and dedicated employee of Gentex in Zeeland, MI involved in the newest technologies and always striving to be the best. Karl was an avid sports fan, including football, baseball and rugby aficionado and loved to follow both Michigan State and Auburn University programs, and was a longtime fan of the Detroit Tigers.

Karl enjoyed fishing, days at the beach with sand and sun, going to the parks with his children, and spending time with his family for weekend getaways at Pleasant Lake and the west coast of Michigan in cities such as Pentwater and Holland, and at times enjoying the finer things in life, like a great steak at the bistros in downtown Grand Rapids.

Karl is survived by his brother-in-law Shane Spalding; father in-law Steve Spalding; mother-in-law Roberta Mackniesh; sister-in-law Dustann (Chuck) Astleford; nieces, McKayla, Emry and Alaina Astleford; aunt Diane Nielson; nephews Alex Nielson (Aleric Nielson) and Brian Nielson (Kirk Nielson).

The list of friends he kept up with from work and life is so long we'd hate to miss listing any one of you, but please know, we love all of you for being part of his life and we know he loved you too. Nothing will replace his laughter and unhinged commentary that he filled our hearts and lives with.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18 at 1:00 PM at Gorsline-Runciman, 205 E Middle St, Williamston, MI 48895. The family welcomes friends and relatives for visitation from 11:00 AM until the 1:00 PM service.
