He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Geneva Carter; his parents, Irving and Monica Carter; brothers, Bruce, Brian, Chuck Carter; sisters, Janet Butler, Maizie Jabour, Sharon Kessler, Carol Dymstra, and Christine Bart. Surviving are his children, Valorie (David) Shepherd, Todd (Liza) Carter, Troy Carter, Valisa (Gordon) Davis, and Voni (Brian) Booyinga; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- granddaughter; brothers; Larry (Shirley) Carter, Alan (Mary Lou) Nemer; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Chelf, Karlene Chelf; and dear friends, Jr. and Janie Kirby.
Irving proudly served his country with the United States Navy for 20 years and he retired from Dansville Schools after over 20 years of service. He will be remembered for his smile, sense of humor, positive attitude and work ethic. He loved his family and friends, especially those at Vantown Community Church.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Vantown Community Church, 3504 E. Howell Road, Webberville, MI 48892, with Pastor Terry Turner officiating.
