Born in Illinois on September 6, 1966, he was preceded in death by his father, Otis Childress.
Steven attended Bruton High School. He was an outdoorsman and often went whitewater rafting and camping. You would also find him spending time in his garden, or grilling dinner for himself and his dog, Bailey. Steven enjoyed watching Fox News, and supported #Trump24. He was a lifetime member of, Hominy Masonic Lodge #491 AF&AM, in Candler, NC. He was also an avid reader of Roman and Medieval History.
He earned multiple certificates and achievements throughout his life, such as: TWIC Accreditations, OSHA Confined Space and Fire Safety Training, American Red Cross CPR/First AID Certification, Supervision of Asbestos Abatement, Disaster Recovery Services, and an Apiarist (certified Beekeeper).
A family man, he loved spending time with his grandkids, friends, and dog Bailey.
Steven is survived by his sons, Steven M. Childress Jr. (Tiffany) and William Brandon Childress; grandchildren, Jaxon Childress, Kaylee Childress, Haven Childress, Weston Childress, Kaleigh Shifflett, Madelyn Shifflett, and Casen Shifflett; mother, Nancy Ann Childress; siblings, Richard Childress, Kevin Hobson, Lisa Hobson McMains, and Debra Combs. He will also miss his dog, Bailey.
A service for Steven will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Virginia.
