Robert K. (Bob) Tubbs, age 81, of Williamsburg, VA passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, in his sleep at his home with his little dog, Tubby, by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 7479 Richmond Road, Norge, Virginia 23127 at 11:30 A.M. Dr. Tubbs was born November 25, 1936, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Kenneth F. and Gladys (Nelson) Tubbs. He attended The Columbus Boychoir School, (later The American Boychoir), graduating in 1951 in Princeton, New Jersey. He graduated from Columbus North High School in the Class of 1954 and The Ohio State University, graduating in 1958, B.Sc. with high distinction in Chemistry, and in 1962 with a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry. His dissertation on DNA made him one of the first generation of DNA scientists. He attended advanced management courses at the University of Virginia and The American Management Association in New York. He joined the DuPont Corporation in 1962 and held several management positions in research, manufacturing, and marketing in the Electrochemicals, Plastics, Industrial Chemicals, and Pharmaceutical Divisions. Retiring in 1985, he consulted with major corporations worldwide, and lectured on Chemistry at Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania and Manatee Community College, Venice, Florida. He was an ardent fisherman and a longtime member of The Arnold Fish and Game Preserve, Quebec. He was an accomplished woodworker and loved gardening. He enjoyed painting with watercolors and oils and collected Wyeth prints. He married Judith Ann Allard on March 10, 1956 and they resided in Columbus, Ohio; Lewiston, New York; Wilmington, Delaware; Ganoga Lake, Pennsylvania; Panama City Beach, Florida; Venice, Florida; and Williamsburg, Virginia. He was also an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; three daughters, Catherine Duke (Monty) of Lititiz, Pennsylvania, Susan Jobson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Sheri Andro (Ron) of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; 7 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Jim Tubbs, Wilmington, Delaware, and Mike Tubbs, Columbus, Ohio. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Ewing.
