Michael Patrick Polidori

Michael retired from the Army after 22 years of dedicated and honorable service. During his time in the service, he created a family with his former wife, Debbie. After his many years in the military, he took his interest in antiques and collectables to a new level.

He took a leap of faith and opened an antiques and collectibles shop, De Ja Vu, in Hope Mills NC, which he ran for several years. Even after he closed the shop, Michael continued to enjoy scouring auctions and any type of shop where he might discover hidden treasure.

Mike enjoyed racquetball, chess, running, astronomy, music, singing, photography, bowling, golf, reading, antiquing, traveling, learning, and, getting out there to soak up the things in life which made him happiest. He was an extremely skilled racquetball player. He played racquetball up until he started feeling ill; beating out players less than half his age, at the time. During his time in the military, he would enter tournaments for racquetball, chess, and bowling. Most times, he would win 1st or 2nd place in those tournaments.

He had many varied interests and wasn't afraid to take on new experiences.

He spent hours researching and educating himself on the many subjects which interested him. He would often share his research and interesting subjects with anyone who was ready to listen.

Michael had a great sense of humor and an infinite curiosity. He truly allowed himself to be free to express who he was, no matter the cost.

Mike never met a stranger. No matter where he went in this world, he made friends of strangers. He never walked his path without the company of an acquaintance or a friend.

Michael is survived by his three daughters, Peggy (Victoria) Polidori, Ellie Labolt, Christine Polidori; and two grandsons, Mark LaBolt and Jason Labolt. He is also survived by his siblings, Eleanor (Michael) Cox, Peter (Lisa) Polidori, Alfred (Karen) Polidori, and Connie (Jan) Thomas.

He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, along with great and even great-great nieces and nephews, including his great niece Emmalee Van Buren who became his best friend.

He was much loved by all and will be greatly missed.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date to celebrate Michael's life.
