Nécrologie de Eric Daoang Ramos
After a courageous battle against cancer, Eric Daoang Ramos passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2022 in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lolinda Daoang Ramos; his father, Andrew Asuncion Ramos; and his brother, Daniel Daoang Ramos. Eric was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, the middle child of three boys. In high school, he was known for his athletic ability on the basketball court – a skill he passed down to his children Andrew James (Drew) and Jacqueline Victoria (Jacy). After attending college at the University of Hawaii, he moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the Senator from Hawaii, Sparky Matsunaga. In Washington, D.C. he discovered his passion for the restaurant business and met his wife, Jacqueline Venable Lester “Jacx”. They were married in 2000. He managed the Capital City Brew Pub and opened several notable restaurants for Capital Restaurant Group including J. Paul’s and Paulo’s. An entrepreneur at heart, Eric created Center Street Grill in conjunction with his wife, Jacx, his brother Greg, and his lifelong friend and business partner, Michael Jeo in November 2005. It remains one of the most popular restaurants in Williamsburg, Virginia. In addition to Center Street Grill, he was the manager/owner of Somar Properties, a family corporation that buys and manages real estate properties. Eric personified generosity and hospitality to all. One never encountered Eric without a warm welcome and a genuine interest in their life. He treasured the times he spent with friends - whether at the bar in one of his old stomping grounds, the athletic field or sitting on his sofa at home. He was rarely ever seen without a smile on his face, his most endearing feature. Eric championed the underdog. As expressed in one of the over 400 comments on Facebook, “he always found the best in everyone.” Eric was the patriarch to many cousins, aunts and uncles who adored him and gave him joy. Most of all, Eric was a loving husband, a proud and attentive father and a devoted brother. His family was his life. He was always present and adoring. His greatest legacy is his beautiful wife, Jacx; and their two exceptional children Drew and Jacy. Though the last few weeks have been painful, Eric will always be remembered as the loving, kind, spirited, joyful and giving man he was. In the words of his favorite song, “Somewhere over the Rainbow”, he lived a life where “the dreams you dare to dream really do come true.” The family will hold a celebration of Eric’s life at Nelsen Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11th at 2:00pm followed by a reception at Center Street Grill. In keeping with Eric’s unique style, guests are welcome to attend in Aloha Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Ramos Scholarship fund: Ramos Scholarship Fund, 4701 Bristol Circle, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185, (917-414-1813) or online at https://gofund.me/ca22a12c.
