Charles Theodore Gardner

Charles Theodore Gardner, 92, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on September 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helene Gardner, and his daughter, Joelle Lee. Charles was a graduate of Odebolt Iowa High School, Class of 1948. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he retired from the U.S. Government Civil Service. He was a member of Saint Olaf Catholic Church and the NARFE. An accomplished gardener, Charles also enjoyed golf. He is survived by his sons, David Gardner (Gaby) and Phillip Gardner (Deborah); son-in-law, Robert Bryne Lee; grandchildren, Nicolas Lee (Sheila), Gretchen Lee, Rebecca Bauckman (Jacob), and Lindsay Newman (Adam); as well as great-grandchildren, Charlie Bauckman, Olivia Newman, Piper Bauckman, Callie Newman, and Nora Lee. Services will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A private family inurnment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
