William Edward "Eddie" Burchfiel, age 78, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022. Eddie was born September 30, 1943 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Randolph D and Elizabeth (Helton) Burchfiel.
Eddie graduated Putnam City high school in 1961 and later attended Oklahoma State University. He joined the United States Army and National Guard where he served 23 years and retired at the rank of First Sergeant and also worked as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office and retired after 40 years.
On September 26, 1970 Eddie married the love of his life Thelma and together they had one son Randolph D Burchfiel.
Eddie was and active member of Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and was ordained as a deacon in 2006. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister-in-law Debbie Barter, and one niece Mindy Barter.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years Thelma, one son D (Kristi) Burchfiel, two grandchildren Rebekah and Andrew Burchfiel, two brothers John (Penny) Barter and Joe Barter and many other family and friends.
A night service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 6:30 pm at Discover Church, 1826 W. Maple, Wichita, Kansas 67213. A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 12:30 pm with a service to follow at 1:30 pm both at Village Baptist Church, 10600 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120.
A graveside service will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens 130 W. 8th St., Bristow, Oklahoma 74010.
