Wanda Land Smith, 93, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2018 at Hospice House in North Kansas City. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Wanda was smart and kind and touched many with her sweet and caring ways. She was born August 15, 1924 in Norwich, Kansas, the second of six children to Lester and Lillian Land. Always an enthusiastic student, Wanda put herself through college, competed nationally in debate, was a member of Mortar Board, a National College Senior Honor Society, receiving a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. After graduation, she traveled to Europe and came home to work in radio and TV advertising. On February 5, 1956, she married P.K. Smith, Jr., a director and producer at KAKE television in Wichita, Kansas where they later owned and operated a successful audio/visual business, Custom Sound, Inc. for nearly forty years. Wanda is survived by her husband of 62 years, P.K., and their two daughters, Cindy (and Richard) Croskell of Kansas City, Missouri, Shannon (and Craig) Cox of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, her grandson, Ben Croskell, Megan Smith, and their two sons, Grahm and Greyson Croskell. Wanda's siblings are June McClelland of Grove City, PA and Don Land of Enumclaw, WA. She was proceeded in death by her sister, Gloria Dene Long, and her two brothers, Wendell Land and Keith Land. A memorial service will be held at the Resthaven chapel at 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 14.
