Verna Kolene Newell Holt

Verna Kolene Newell Holt, age 95, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. She was born on May 10, 1928 in Sage, Arkansas, to the late George and Lockie Hightower. Verna was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Verna was an active member of her community and had a deep connection with her church, Bethel Life. She found solace and strength in her faith, which guided her throughout her life.

Verna had a vibrant personality and a warm heart. She was known for her open door policy and enjoyed hosting eclectic groups for Thanksgiving and other holidays. She cherished spending time with her family and creating lasting memories.

In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her sisters, Versa Crisswell and Glenna Hightower; her brother Gene Hightower; her husband Ephus Holt and her son Sam Rose of Augusta, Kansas.

She is survived by her daughters: Geneva Patterson and Jeanie Alexander; her sons: George Rose and Kevin Newell (Tracy); 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation with family present will be Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm.
