She was born “out in a hollow” near Searcy, Arkansas, the youngest of six children to Andrew Jackson and Anna Lee Singleton. She lived in Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA before relocating to Wichita, KS in 1994.
She was proud of her countless volunteer hours at Botanica, as well as Via Christi hospital and Music Theatre Wichita. She loved her church family at Believers Baptist Church, where she was a founding member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Grimes, to whom she was married to for 33 years before his passing in 1989. She is survived by her daughter, Becki Grimes Tripathy (Debu), Mark Grimes (Debbie), 5 grandchildren and their spouses, and 8 great-grandsons.
Private services will be held in New Orleans, LA.
