In the years that we were in Prairie Pilot Club together, Rose was a dear friend.  When she was no longer able to participate in Club activities, we visited a few times while she lived at KMH, but eventually lost touch (I am sorry to say). Rose was a valued, active member of the Club, with her words of encouragement, her strong faith, her gentle humor, her kindness and her beautiful smile.  Yes, "everyone loved Rose".  

I am sorry that we did not realize that Rose had passed.  From time to time, I had searched the Eagle's obituaries online, but apparently missed it. I finally "googled" her name today and the information came right up.  I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner.  The Club will be sending a contribution to Pilot International in Rose's memory.

We offer our belated condolences to all of the family. Although more than a year has passed since Rose's death, I'm sure that you all miss her daily.  What a sweet soul!  Yes, "everyone loved Rose".  

Matt and I extend our sincere condolences to Sheryl, Sam, and the family. I didn't know Sheryl's mom personally, but the richness of her life, and the generosity of her spirit has been gifted to me through my friendship with Sheryl, a woman whose kind heart and determination build upon Rose's legacy and inspire so many, including me.

I have so many fond memories of Aunt Rosie.   I am so fortunate to have grown up knowing such a loving Aunt and family.   Our strong bonds included many trips and visits over the years with Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.  Those long car rids across the plains to Wichita and then back to Denver changing to visits here in Phoenix after I moved to Arizona.   Between visits she would keep in touch by mailing notes (I received a couple this year).   I am forever grateful that Rosie and Mom met in Nurses Training, which led to them becoming sister-in-laws. I am so blessed to have Rose as my mother-in-law. When I would mention my connection to her to someone at church or KMH or Catholic Care Center without fail they would say, 'she's so sweet...we love her!' That's just how she was. I would tell people I was her favorite daughter-in-law and she would smirk and remind me I was the only daughter-in-law.

She loved to play games. At family gatherings it would be Mexican Train Dominoes or Farkle or Scrabble. The more grandkids around the table playing the better! Gregg and I played many games of Triominoes and Chinese Checkers with mom and her friend Dolores at KMH. So much fun1

She loved family and loved whenever we were all together. This picture is from Ivan and Callie's wedding at Botanica.

Grandma took this picture of Grandpa and I while we were on our trip for my 11th birthday. I was the first grandchild and it was a new tradition that continued with all of the grandchildren. My trip was to Abilene, KS. We went to the Eisenhower Museum. Grandma was leaning over a case looking at pictures and medals. I leaned over to give her a hug from behind, and said, “I love you, Grandma “. She turned around and said, “well thank you. I love you too, but I’m not your grandma”. All the color left my face as I realized that I had just hugged a complete stranger! And I could now see Grandma across the room chuckling at what she had just seen. 

This is a photo from our family cruise in Alaska. Grandma, Lindsey, and I were roommates on the ship. Grandma planned the whole trip, and we had a blast. I think this is when we were walking around downtown Anchorage. 

I remember mom and dad telling of a small aircraft ride they had booked in Alaska.  It turned out severely foggy that day and they thought the flight would be canceled.  The pilot said, “Oh, no. We can still go.”  Against their better judgment they went and were petrified The entire ride. It was so foggy they couldn’t see anything. I think this is before they went.  Mom has her binoculars which proved useless for seeing anything on the ground!

I’d first like to express my sincere condolences to Rose’s children, grandchildren and other family members for their loss. Rose was a very kind and endearing person who will be greatly missed.
I am Rose’s paternal cousin, her father and my father were brothers, but unfortunately our families were not close when we were growing up and therefore we didn’t really get to know one another until late in life. However, in 2019 on a trip to Kansas my wife and I made it a priority to visit Rose in her beautiful assisted living home in Wichita. We enjoyed our visit very much and I made it a point to stay in contact with her by phone over these past couple of years. We of course always intended to visit again but with the COVID restrictions imposed in 2020 that became impossible. I’ll always regret that.
Rose had quite a keen interest in family history and we had a few interesting conversations about the Devinish family. Sadly Rose had already started to experience some memory loss by the time she and I became better acquainted but I still cherish and will miss our talks about our shared family history. 
As a result of my connecting with Rose I have also become acquainted via text and telephone with Sheryl and I hope to meet her in person one day. I know based on her comments that Rose loved and cherished her family very much and I’m sure they will all miss her tremendously. 
My thoughts and prayers are with them today.

Mom was quite a seamstress.  She made matching dresses for herself and we three girls.  Two other outfits she made will be displayed Saturday at the visitation. One is an early 60’s brown and cream gingham suit and the other is a 60’s pink wool tailored jacket, skirt, and pink crepe shell. I showed it to my best neighbor, Sarah Solomon, and she commented, “Wow.  Very Jackie Kennedy”.  I had never thought of that.  That probably was a Jackie influenced suit that was all the rage. Later, mom and I would find fashionable outfits and sew a more reasonably priced knock off.  Mom first taught me how to sew by making Barbie knock off outfits!

When my mom (Rose’s niece) passed in 2019 I got a card from Aunt Rosie sharing how excited she was when my mom was born because she had always wanted to be an Aunt.  Whenever I sent her mail she would always send back a card or a letter.  Attached is a photo of my mom and Aunt Rosie at her granddaughter's wedding. 

I have many memories of church activities and Sunday afternoons spent at the Owens home. Rose Marie was always warm and welcoming. She was a lovely lady who impacted so many throughout her life. I am sorry for your loss.

       I have so many lovely memories of you. I remember tending to the garden with you and Dad. All the green beans and tomatoes we canned while being scared of the canner exploding.
       I remember wanting you to sing me songs every night for the longest time.

Mom loved playing the flute and passed that love on to her daughter, Susan. She found time to squeeze in private lessons in her busy schedule and was proud of Susan's abilities. Love you forever, mom!

Dan and I have many good memories of church activities with JD and Rose Marie. We send our sympathy to the family.
