Noemi (Mimi) Ortiz Martinez, Mimi Martinez, 83 of Harlingen, Texas, left us to see the lord on May 30th at her home. Memorial services will be held as follows: In Harlingen, Texas a Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 31st at Primera Iglesia Bautista located at 402 W. Filmer Ave. by Rev. Roberto Rodriguez. On Sunday, June 4th in Wichita, Kansas. A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary located in Wichita, Kansas at 11800 West Kellogg St. on Monday, June 5th. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at LifePoint Church located in Valley Center at 400 South Abilene Ave. by Pastor Bobby Massey and Ryan Baty. Mimi will be available for viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial service will take place 1 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery located in Wichita, Kansas at 11800 West Kellogg St. Mimi was born in Mercedes, Texas on November 26, 1933. She graduated with honors from Harlingen High School. Mimi was married to Simon Gamez Martinez on February 16, 1954; they were married 63 years. Mimi worked at the City of Wichita (Account Clerk) and North High School (Attendant Secretary). She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her large family. Mimi was preceded by her father, Porfirio Ortiz; mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez; and brother, Hilario Ismael Ortiz. Mimi is survived by her husband, Simon; sons, Frank Javier and Jamie Martinez; daughters, Becky Pope and Yolanda Rodriguez; six brothers and five sisters; 29 grandkids, 59 great grandkids and two great-great grandkids.
